Leaf Peeping

We took a little trip down to 4th of July Campground, on the east side of the Manzano range, south of Abuquerque, to see what the Big-Tooth Maples were up to.

We went down there on an exploratory trip a few weeks ago, to see what the campground was like, as well as the dirt road in to it, and do a little hiking. Everything was very promising for leaf season, so Anna made a reservation and we made our plans.

It's always a bit of a roll of the dice as to what the leafs are going to do. The most crimson examples we saw were actually on the ground -- we were probably a week early! Still very pretty, and we hiked all the way up to the ridgeline.
